First impression of the working week

8 september 2019 - Chiclana de la Frontera, Spanje

¡Hola gente, estoy de vuelta otra vez!

I've had my first real working week at my internship so I'm going to be writing about that now. The day that we were introduced to the instution. It was very busy and the clients were overjoyed by the coming of us. The colleagues were kind to us, not everyone could speak English so I knew then that I needed to improve my Spanish skills. After the introduction with a few colleagues, we were going to have lunch with the clients. They were already waiting in front of the door and then they all came to say 'hello' and ask about our names. During lunch I felt kind of uncomfortable because all the clients were looking at us and I felt like I was in the centre of attention. Even though for them it was normal, for me it felt awful and I had enough attention for one day.

The next day I was very late because I couldn't find the way, then one of my colleagues came for me and I finally arrived at the internship and they gave us a tour around the institution. It was much bigger than I expected, and it looked also pleasant. The first working day went better than I expected, it was a good first day.

I had a good first week, even though the  working hours are kinda exhausting. I have to work from Monday till Friday, starting at 8am till 4pm. Hopefully I will get used to it by time. I'm blessed with the colleagues I have, they are very kind and understanding. They show interesst and keep asking how you're doing. The clients are kind too, but I need to learn to get used to the fact that here in Spain they are more open and have no shame. I can't complain about my internship for now.

Now it's weekend and I'm glad I'm off tomorrow too, because I really needed it. At friday I had a small pool party from a colleague and yesterday I went to Cádiz with my roommates. I've had a good weekend too so I'm happy about that. For now I've got nothing to say anymore so I'm going to end this blog.

¡Adios, hasta lluego!
